According to data from randomised controlled trials, Saxenda supports weight loss of around 2-3kg or around 2-3% of body weight after one month. After two months, it’s around 4kg or 4% of body weight.

Interestingly, this initial weight loss is no different from that of other weight loss treatments or the impact of diet interventions on weight loss.

It’s worth noting that Saxenda isn’t available with Second Nature’s medication programmes as other alternatives are generally more effective and better tolerated.

The two most popular alternatives for weight loss are Wegovy and Mounjaro, both of which are available in the UK.

Wegovy is an injectable medication containing the drug semaglutide. Many people are aware of the more popular version of semaglutide, Ozempic, but Ozempic is no longer approved for weight loss in the UK. Wegovy is the officially approved version.

Mounjaro (the drug is called ‘tirzepatide’) is a brand new weight-loss medication from the pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly. It was launched in February 2024, and clinical trials have suggested better long-term weight-loss results than Wegovy and Ozempic.

Second Nature has a Wegovy weight-loss programme and a Mounjaro weight-loss programme. Both programmes start from £229 per month, and to see if you’re eligible you need to take our short health quiz.

How much weight will I lose on Saxenda?

Liraglutide reduces appetite and hunger, helping you eat fewer calories; this effect is almost immediate.

Liraglutide is a long-acting medication that’s started at a lower dose to reduce the number and severity of side effects as it’s built up to a higher maintenance dose.

Research suggests that Saxenda supports an average weight loss of around 4.5kg after one year. However, as this is an average, it’s unclear how much weight each individual will be able to lose on Saxenda.

The amount of weight people lose on Saxenda will depend on how well they respond to the medication and their ability to make positive changes to their diet and lifestyle.

How quickly will I see results with Saxenda?

According to data from randomised controlled trials, Saxenda tends to support immediate weight loss.

Liraglutide reduces appetite and hunger, helping you eat fewer calories; this effect is almost immediate. However, you might notice the effect of lower hunger wearing off after 4-5 days post-injection in the first month of taking Saxenda.

Interestingly, the initial weight loss you see while taking Saxenda is no different from that of other weight loss treatments or the impact of diet interventions on weight loss. The real effect of Saxenda is seen beyond three months.

Liraglutide is a long-acting medication that’s started at a lower dose to reduce the number and severity of side effects as it’s built up to a higher maintenance dose.

Saxenda isn’t a magic pill

Weight-loss injections are most effective when combined with a healthier lifestyle. They can help kickstart weight loss while you commit to developing healthier habits.

Saxenda and other weight loss injections, like Mounjaro and Wegovy, can allow you to make lifestyle changes to support long-term weight loss.

These medications can help silence food-related thoughts and give you a boost of confidence with more immediate weight-loss results.

They can also buy you the time and headspace to understand why your body may have struggled to lose weight and build new long-term healthy habits.

The core focus of our medication programmes is to calm down the feeling of food noise, lower your cravings, and allow you to build healthier habits to keep the weight off for good.

The ultimate goal is to make losing weight feel second nature.

Second Nature’s medication-supported programmes

Second Nature has two medication-supported programmes: a Wegovy weight-loss programme and a Mounjaro weight-loss programme.

If you’ve decided to try Wegovy or Mounjaro (assuming you’re eligible), why should you choose Second Nature over other medication providers?

For peace of mind.

Second Nature has worked with the NHS for over 6 years providing weight-loss programmes across the UK.

Whilst our Wegovy and Mounjaro weight-loss programmes are private and not currently used by the NHS, we’ve built the programmes with a focus on scientific evidence, patient safety, and data security.

We hope that our 6+ years of working with the NHS and building a track record of effective weight-loss results will give you peace of mind to give us a try.
