If you travel with Mounjaro, you must ensure it remains in its original packaging, which protects it from light and prevents it from being exposed to temperatures beyond 30 degrees Celsius.

If possible, keep Mounjaro in a cool bag when travelling. If your Mounjaro medication is exposed to temperatures above 8 degrees Celsius and isn’t refrigerated, it should be taken within 21 days.

If you’re flying, you’ll be fine travelling through the airport with the medication. However, you should take Mounjaro in your cabin luggage, as it may freeze in the hold.

Carrying your original Mounjaro prescription with you when travelling is not permitted, as this can be used to re-dispense the medication at another pharmacy.

If you’re travelling to certain regions, like Australia, you may need a letter from your prescriber to confirm your medication prescription and its purposes.

We recommend speaking with your prescribing pharmacist if you have any specific questions about your treatment when travelling.

Can you skip Mounjaro for a week?

Generally, you can skip a Mounjaro dose for one week. However, this isn’t recommended as it may impact the drug’s effects.

Mounjaro is a long-acting medication that reaches a steady state in the body after 4-5 weeks of starting.

The weekly injection of Mounjaro ensures this steady state is maintained, and the drug can continue to support a lower appetite and weight loss.

When I’m on holiday, when should I take Mounjaro?

Even when you’re on holiday, it’s recommended that you take Mounjaro on the same day at the same time as if you were at home.

This might be challenging if you’re travelling to regions in a different time zone, but the closer you can keep to your regular routine, the less likely you are to experience side effects.

How do I maintain progress when travelling with Mounjaro?

We all like to enjoy a holiday from time to time, especially during the summer holiday season.

Whether it’s a trip overseas, a weekend away, or spending time with family and friends at home, taking a break from our normal routine is essential for our mental well-being.

It can be difficult to keep healthy habits when travelling, even if you’re on Mounjaro. Still, there are some things we can do to help maintain your progress when travelling on Mounjaro.

Here are our top tips to help you maintain your progress when travelling while you’re on Mounjaro:

  1. Start the day with a protein-rich breakfast: Whether scrambled eggs with sauteed vegetables or a bowl of yoghurt with fruit and nuts, we’re more likely to maintain our healthier habits if we start the day well.
  2. Stick to your main meal routine: If you’re currently enjoying three main meals a day with the occasional snack, stick to this routine as much as possible. This will ensure you stay within your side effect threshold and avoid consuming to excess, which could potentially lead to stomach discomfort or tiredness.
  3. Stay hydrated: This will help to maintain your energy levels and avoid side effects.
  4. Indulge in moderation: One of the main reasons you may experience more side effects of Mounjaro is eating beyond fullness. So, if you do want to indulge, do so mindfully and within your fullness levels.

I traveled for 7 weeks in Europe with Monjauro. I kept my meds in a small cooler with 2 bags of frozen peas to keep the medication cool. (This recommendation came from Air Canada! ) When we got to our destinations, the meds went into the refrigerator.
I traveled with zip lock bags to fill with ice so I could keep the medicine cool while traveling by car and on my flight home.
